(XPS 13) Windows thinks my 13in laptop monitor is bigger than my 27in external. How do I fix this?

Hi,

I have a brand new xps 13 and no matter what I cannot get Windows 10 to identify my 27in external monitor as the larger monitor. For whatever reason (I assume scaling issues) Windows always treats my laptop screen as the larger screen. This makes moving the mouse between monitors clumsy and frustrating. 

Is there a solution to this?
