XPS L502x in game crash

Hey guys,

I've had my xps for just over a year now, its the i7-2630QM @ 2.00Ghz, 6 gigs of ram, Nvidia Geforce GT 540M variant, upgraded to Windows 8.1 and I've never had an issue with it until now. I've been playing skyrim since I bought the laptop and about a week ago the game consistently crashes in game. The computer becomes unresponsive and a looping noise is heard through the speakers, even though all my drivers are up to date. What bothers me is that this only occurs when playing Skyrim and Tomb Raider

MyDell does't recognize there's an error and the only crash that was recorded says the High Definition audio drivers were at fault

I've researched the error and the only solution being posted is replacing the motherboard. I'm curious to know if anybody else has had this error, and if a motherboard replacement is the only cure. My warranty is valid until 2015
