XT2 Battery "not identifible"

Purchase a used Dell XT2 that had a bad battery. Purchased a refurbished battery and now getting a "Primary Battery not indetifible" warning, blinking red/blue battery light, and it won't charge.

Replaced battery (purchased off eBay), same results.

Battery is a Dell PU536 with a manuf ID JP-OWR015-42016-887-0302

Same results on a manuf ID JP-0PU501-71766-865-D85P

Service Tag is BIOS is good <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed as per privacy policy>.

I'm real confused...Help!

Check the contacts on the mainboard where the battery plugs in for damage -- or corrosion.

I know it has been ages, but I thought I would respond in hopes that it may help someone else. The batteries you put in your XT2 are actually XT batteries. Although they are identical in size, shape and capacity, an XT battery will not work in an XT2, it will always show the behavior you have described.

Unfortunately I cannot located a list I had that had the valid Dell part numbers for XT2 batteries (there are only 3 or 4 of them)
