computer won't disk defragment "Vista"

my system won't disk defragment please help, it ask for permission and I give it, then absolutely nothing. It never runs! it just jumps back to the previous page with no defragment activity

I'm not at my Vista machine to double check but can you right click on the disk fragmenter executable and select 'Run as Administrator'?

I have tried that, but still nothing. Matter of fact when I got your message, I did it again. The program won't even run.

I think Vista defragments in the background.I'm really not sure as I run xp.Maybe someone else will

answer who knows for sure.

There are plenty of free third-party defraggers out there which work in Vista as well remember - i.e. Auslogics Disk-Defrag and JkDefrag - to name but two ;)

Thank you soo much I tried Auslogics, it went beautifully, Thanks for the help!!!!! but in the end I have to find out what's going on with my Windows :smileyvery-happy:
