how do you disable the touch stick in a Latitude E550

I keep accidentally hitting the touch stick when I'm typing and then the cursor jumps to another spot.  How can I disable the touch stick? Older answers on the web say to go to Control Panel, Mouse, and disable it there, but there isn't anything "there" to disable.  Help!

I meant an E5500, not a 550.

The specific mouse driver needs to be loaded before all the controls are available, although basic functionality may be provided using a generic driver included with the operating system.

I disabled the Track Stick, but I do not want Dell Touchpad to run at Startup as it slows my lpatop. I know the mousepad can work without Dell Touchpads/Alps so I removed Touchpad from Startup only to find that the Track Stick was enabled again. Is there any way around this?
