inspiron 1525 webcam - slow frame rate!

Hello all

Hoping you can help a new addition to the clan.

The webcam on my new dell inspiron 1525 seems to be very slow and records at 6/7 frmaes a second. This page -

http://support.euro.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1526/en/OM/specs.htm#wp1102222

says it supports 640x480 at 30fps

Also, I visited a retail store and looks at webcams on all manner of laptops and they ALL seem better than the high spec sounding one on the 1525.

Looking at the controls (webcan console, etc) there doesn't seem to be a option to just have the webcam on but not recording? (I thought it might be the actual recording process itself that was causing the probs...?) or anywhere to increase the frame rate generally.

I was wondering if anyone else has/had these issues?

Thanks for any help! :smileyhappy:

if you are in a low light environment, the frame rates drop as the exposure time is increased. Try using your webcam in a room that gets lots of sunlight and you will see a performance increase.

I have to agree with the poster above.  I had low frame rate also.   got in better lighting conditions and my frame rate jumped up to full 30 fps.  Woot!
