my webcam defaults to 640x480

I have an Inspiron 5767 and Win 10 with a webcam that's 1280 x 720 (HD). The weird part is that it starts up very low res. I can change the setting to 1280x720 on Cyberlink power directer, but when I go to any other program to use it, it reverts to low quality again.

There are no settings in Skype or Zoom to change it. Any ideas?

Thanks!

As far as I know, those webcams are not supposed to change resolution.  If you have a specific UI for it from the OEM it might be an option, but my camera uses the Win 10 drivers.

Cyberlink is not installed on this system and may be the cause of your situation.  I would check for an update for that utility but make sure and uninstall the camera in device manager and check the box to remove all drivers.  Then let Windows reinstall a drivers, unless Dell supplies one.

If Dell does supply one, then download that driver then do the reinstall process offline.
