Lets try the following steps and check if it fixes the problem.

  • Click Start

  • Right Click Computer

  • Click Manage

  • On the left hand side select Device Manager Under Imaging Devices, double click USB Webcam. It should have a yellow bang next to it.

  • Click the Driver tab at the top.

  • Click Roll Back Driver

  • device manager shows unknown device
  • when did update driver got following message
  • windows found driver for your device but encountered an error while attempting install it
  • creative live camera
  • An error encountered while installing device
  • The driver installation for this device is missing a necessary entry. This may be because inf was written for windows 95 or later. contact your hardware vendor.

is the camera in N5030 of creative! live and what does this message mean

please helps

Yes, Dell Webcam Central is an application from creative.

As mentioned a driver 'Roll back' was supposed be done. An update would have given that error message, try the roll back option if your webcam was working fine earlier this should definitely fix the problem.

sorry it seems i did not mention that mine is new notebook, webam never worked and pressing device manager driver tab shows no driver installed and it further  does not give option of roll back (i.e., it is gray and on clicking it nothing happens)

does it mean that my laptop has dead webcam

pl help

thanks

P.S. may i say i tried visiting creative site it was of no use my hope lies on you only

We need to then install the Dell Webcam Central.

Firstly we have to remove the existing software, (Start>control panel> programs and features)

Once the existing webcam central is removed restart the system (It is important that the system is restarted after the uninstallation)

Download and install the new version of the webcam central. Dell Webcam Central 2.0

Restart the system again and then open the webcam central.

I am having the same problem with my webcam... on Inspiron N5030

I have followed this thread and the same instructions, but I still have

an unknown (actually two) device under Imaging devices.

Anymore advice...???

Two devices would mean  drivers corruption. Have you installed any device on the system ? a printer perhaps..

Check if the rollback device works. The best method to resolve this is a system restore, when was the last time your webcam was working fine ? Try system restore to a date earlier than that.

lineshbhanushali,

PLEASE READ AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS THAT I ASKED, BELOW.

Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system? If yes, did you install the drivers in the correct order? How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Try reading...

Troubleshooting the Dell Webcam and Dell Webcam Central Software

Also try running the Webcam Diagnostics

Did the webcam show in the symptom tree?

Any error messages?

Is the computer under warranty?
