Dell laptop 17R-problem with getting a Restore Point

Greetings;

Well, it looks like the same problem that my husband is having with his Inspiron 660 desktop he is having with his Dell 17R laptop.

When Trend Micro goes to do a restore point it goes through all the motions and at the end it says that it could not get a restore point done.

Tried to do it through Windows and followed their directions-still the same it goes through the motions to do it and then at the end it says that it could not get one.

What would cause it not to get a restore point? In both machines, mind you.

Windows has gotten to be a big headache. No matter what version.

I would appreciate any help on this problem.
