Brightness keys are not working on Dell Latitude 3460 - Windows 10 Pro with Intel HD 5500 display

Hello All,

Brightness keys are not working on my Dell Latitude 3460 - Windows 10 Pro with Intel HD 5500 display drivers.

Steps performed:

Updated the display drivers with latest recommended drivers

It is painful when working in low lights with high brightness.

Can you help me to resolve this.?

Easy question first: Assuming your brightness keys are on the F keys at the top of the keyboard, have you tried pressing them both while holding down the Fn key and while NOT holding down the Fn key?  On most laptops, it's possible to default the F row of keys to operate either as F keys or as the media/brightness keys.  That mode is typically toggled by pressing Fn+Esc if your Esc key has a Fn Lock icon on it.

If that's not it, make sure adaptive brightness is disabled under Control Panel > Power Options > Change settings > Advanced settings > Display.

Maybe this will help some:

Change the monitor's driver to GENERIC PNP MONITOR

I had mine with some other driver.. can't recall which, but this worked for me!

It stopped working after some windows update, or going from windows 8 to windows 10. I can't remember how long I had this issue.
