I in the same situation. I'll try reverting to the previous bios and see if that helps me as well.

When I got bios version 1.9.1 I noticed that bios 1.10.1 was no longer in the list. Maybe it's a wider problem and the new version is going to be amended.

I have the same behavior in mine. I'd assume they're scrambling to get a bios update that works and fixes the spectre/meltdown vulnerabilities (to a degree).

I see bios 1.10.2 has been released. Does not appear to fix the problem. Already restarted after installation and failed to resume from hibernate this morning without automatically restarting.

I installed the 1.10.2 BIOS update as well....did not fix.  Hope there is a solution soon.

Last night I did a clean install and loaded the Dell drivers in the recommended order. It seems to have fixed things on my system.

Mine is brand new. Cashes most days once or twice. Crashed 4 times today (till now). I asked for the laptop to be replaced and was told someone would reach out to me today. Nobody did. Is this the great Dell service I was told about?

For the record as an update to my previous comment - as I wrote in another thread, my system is still having spontaneous restarts after a clean install (and whether turbo boost is on or off).

Motherboard replaced today. Awaiting to see if it fixes the issue. Although as it already failed to successfully resume from hibernate its not looking good.

Hi all,

it is a problem of the BIOS version.
Problem exist since versions 1.9.1
Talked to DELL about this but they only told me the development is working on this problem.
Please downgrade the BIOS to version 1.8.1 (i test at the moment but it looks good) or Version 1.7.1 (tested by me and working without restarts)
Important: Downgrade is not working when you are on BIOS Version 1.9.1.
You need to update to 1.10.2 and then you can downgrade to any version.

Many thanks, NicolaiSch. So far it's been more than 48 hours without an unwanted restart, after downgrading to bios 1.8.1.

Same here. Cannot believe that the dell support do not even know this. I downgraded and no restarts. CPU stll gets very hot though (100C)

@NicolaiSch

While Dell engineering is aware of the issue and is investigating, we have not confirmed 100% that the reboot behavior is caused by BIOS 1.9.1.

I’ve asked internal partners to keep me in the loop on this. I will be back with updates for the Community in the future.

Seems like going back to 1.8.1 has been stable.  Anyone else trying out 1.10.2?

We've noticed it too with the 7389 and XPS models.  In our environment, we disabled the TurboBoost (Overclock) to prevent the system from running hot and kicking on the fan.

We also disable SpeedStep but Windows will automatically disable it if you set your power profile to High Performance.

If I remember anything else we did I will post.
