Latitude 9420, BSOD after sleep or hibernation mode

Hi Dell,

Could you please make some drivers which are useable and will not cause BSOD everytime every time I wakeup my laptop from sleep mode or hibernation mode. It starting to be annoying. I have already been instructed to update drivers, then update bios then reinstall whole system from fresh install. After last action it seems to be better but after while pc is updating itself and now again I have BSOD almost everytime every time this laptop wake up. I do not have BSOD when I switch it off. I did also the HW test in bios etc. It is this stupid drivers which . Fix it please.

We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.

See my thread I'm having similar issue on a different model. Bad news, there's no fix currently but some workarounds I have found.

All drivers and bios latest version. Anybody interested in dump files to really investigate the issue?

I have to share my experience with DELL remote support. It is really unbelievable.

Story is that I had this BSOD on Latitude 9420, they decided to exchange the whole laptop for the new one. Ok why not so I had to wait half year to get new laptop. As soon as I got it I have noticed that the same issue is still there (often issue appear after long sleep or hibernation).

Now some SW "specialists" connected to my laptop remotely and reset the power option of windows to default (even though it was recommended to adjust this in previous conversation). Then they checked system reliability monitor (just graph) and windows version. Oh and I forget to mention that they tried to update the driver but system told them that the driver used is the optimal one (almost as they have no clue how to do update of the wifi driver).

After this they recommend motherboard, RAM and SSD exchange !!!! This is ridiculous!
No DUMP check, no driver version check at all.
If I lend my computer to my 2 years daughter she will make better job then DELL SW support team...

Owner of a - very expensive - Latitude 9420 myself. I, too, have regular BSOD's coming off of sleep.

My symptom usually is that the LEDs of the Windows Hello camera won't fire up. I will log in using my pin, and a few minutes later the laptop will crash with a BSOD and a POWER_STATE_FAILURE code or similar. Sounds indeed like a power management or driver issue.

Another thing is that the laptop will NOT go to sleep when plugged in. Ever! Eventually, temperatures rise, fans start spinning wildly, and so on; this is not acceptable behaviour. Even worse, sometimes this happens with the laptop unplugged, and - occasionally - tucked away inside a bag or something, for hours, until the battery is drained. After that happens, the laptop's underneath is just to hot to touch for minutes. I reckon that this is detrimental for the wellbeing of the components inside.
