Bluetooth on an XPS 13 9370 running Debian Stretch?

I know this will work with Debian Testing but if possible I'd like to stick with Stretch. Any tips on how to get it to work? I've captured traffic to the BT device but I never see any hint that it is seeing anything external when trying to pair.

I'm on Kernel version 4.9.0-8-amd64 and have access to 4.17 and 4.18 through backports. (I think 4.17 requires newer ZFS user space tools than I have easy access to.)
