Dell XPS 13 9370 and Dell u4919dw

Hi,

I'm really excited about the new Dell u4919dw. Therefore, I have two questions about my Dell XPS 13 and the new Dell u4919dw.

1) Does my XPS support a resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels over USB-C?

2) Does this work with kubuntu or other linux distro?

Maybe some of you can answer these questions.

best regards

I am very interested in finding that out myself! I just talked to Dell support and they didn´t know either.

Can someone from Dell please help us out and answer our question?

Been looking everywhere for an answer to this question, but for XPS 13 9350 in my cases (i7 + 16GB model)

Hopefully someone from Dell will plug this in and tell us what happens...

Hi,

some update:

The max resolution of the Intel® UHD Graphics 620 is 4096x2304@60Hz. You can easily check this on https://ark.intel.com/. Choose your CPU and your ready to read out the max resolution.

Therefore, I don't think the Dell XPS 13 will support the monitor.

However this monitors total pixel count is actually lower than the total pixel count on a UHD display. I'm not sure if video cards are limited primary by total pixel count or if they're separately limited by both horizontal and vertical resolution.

5120 x 1440 at 60Hz = 7.3 Megapixel

4096x2304@60Hz = 9.4 Megapixel

I don't know enough about exactly how video cards work to speculate further, only to say that I wouldn't discount the possibility that it might work until someone who knows more about video cards chimes in or until someone tests it...

Sure wish Dell would provide some feedback on this because a big external display is a very nice thing for laptops especially since chaining 3 displays doesn't seem to be an option, and with two you spend you life staring straight at BEZEL...
