xps M1730 mic not present - SOLVED

Hi

I'm running ALSA, latest version on SUSE 11.1 on an xps M1730. I cannot find the mic controls on any  mixer.

Neither the internal mic, nor the external. Consequently I cannot record, not use Skype, etc. Audio output works fine.

Following a troubleshooting suggestion I added the model=dell-3stack to the options on

/etc/modprobe.d/sound with no result.

Any suggestions? Yours,

NOTE: 2009-nov-10: Using model=dell-bios solves the issue.
