Considering E228WFP Monitor Upgarde

I currently have  a Dimension E510 with a 19" Flat Panel. I am using a Radeon X300 SE 128 MB video card that came with the system.
 
First question: Is it true that I need to upgrade the video card to a minimum 256 MB to run the 22" widescreen?
 
Second question: If so, what is the best video card to get that is inexpensive? My use is primarily Autocad for architectural design/drafting. Next would be music videos, movies.
 
Appreciate any input anyone might have.

for sure you can use it with analog connection. with dvi, it shoud work too. old radeons boards can go up to 1920x1200 over dvi, so, your should work fine.

i use a old vga card with 64mb at 1920x1200, and works nice ;)

So all I have to do is connect the new monitor and then reset the display setting resolution to 1680 x 1050?
