Dell U2913WM, problem with use of the display port
I have the following problem with a Dell U2913VM monitor with use of its display port.
When I first turn the monitor on, the computer turns on and the monitor turns off
And the monitor needs to be reset to get it to ever again to turn on.
Is this expected with use of the display port on a Dell U2913VM monitor?
Using an XFX Radeon R7irs 360 video graphics card with the three Dell monitors connected as follows
Dell U2913VM monitor to the display port
Dell U2412M monitor to the DVI-I
Dell U2412M monitor to the DVI-D
The problem appears with this power on sequence.
Press the power on for the Dell U2913VM monitor, white power led flashes and then turns off
then computer turns on - yes the computer
the DELL U2913VM monitor turns off
unable to turn on the Dell U2913VM monitor "forever" until it is reset
Screens are displayed on the two Dell U2412M monitors
This is the reset for the Dell U2913VM monitor
In order to turn on the Dell U2913VM monitor, even after the computer is turned off
remove the display port cable
unplug the monitor from the electric power
wait one minute
plug the monitor back into electric power; monitor can now be powered on and off fine
The Dell monitor diagnostics run fine after the Dell U2913WM is reset.,
With the above configuration, all monitors work fine if I turn on the computer first
This was baffling at first as all was working fine. I had been turning the computer first.
I reproduce the above again and again.
With a different configuration, all monitors work fine, regardless if the monitors are turned first or the
computer. This is the different configuration.
Dell U2913VM monitor to the DVI-D
Dell U2412M monitor to the display port
Dell U2412M monitor to the DVI-I
I realize I found workarounds. I prefer to use the display port cable to the Dell U2913VM monitor without the special power on sequence. Or have to do a hard reset if the Dell U2913WM monitor is turned on first.
I almost returned the Dell U2913WM monitor as defective. As someone-else had returned it, I bought it at a discount as an open box item.

What is the 20 digit serial number and A0x revision?
* Turn the computer and all three monitors off
* Disconnect the two U2412M and their DVI cables from the computer
* Turn the U2913WM on, then the computer. What happens?
