S2417DG, Xbox One X, 1440p

Hi,

I've asked Xbox about this but their suggestions don't seem to work. Hope somebody will have an insight.

Using this S2417DG, through HDMI at 1080 is not problem. When I change the settings to 1440 it works for roughly 1-2 minutes and then the screen goes black and doesn't come back until I go back to 1080.

Do I need a firmware update for the monitor?

I have the Xbox to allow 50Hz as it's HDMI 1.4 on the monitor and the maximum I am to believe I get is 1440 50Hz. Is that correct?

Somebody has suggested it could be a handshaking issue and a HDMI switch could help. Would anybody agree with that?

Any help is much appreciated.

You do realize that you are mixing conflicting technologies. The Xbox One X uses an AMD GPU and AMD FreeSync. Conversely, the S2417DG uses Nvidia G-SYNC which requires an Nvidia GPU. Did Xbox support mention this as a potential issue? The S2417DG HDMI Display Modes (page 13) for 2560x1440p does not list 50Hz.

Thanks for the reply.

If it was the case of conflicting tech, surely it still wouldn't work in any res? It works perfectly in 1080 with the Xbox.

The reason I mention that 1440@50hz, is I was led to believe that's all HDMI 1.4 can take, which is what this monitor has. I thought maybe the Xbox might be trying to push the 60hz even though I've the "allow 50hz" prop active.

I was hoping somebody ran into the same issue that I have, that's why I am posting on any forum I can think of.

Working at Full HD 1920x1080 should not be a stretch for both the AMD and Nvidia meshing. You should post the issue on the Xbox forums and see what other users say.

Thanks for the reply. I've already posted there. My guess is that the Xbox super sampling (down sampling) is the issue.

It's 2 main outputs are 4k and 1080p. There's not a 1440p option so it SS the 4k to 1440p. I'm guessing it bottlenecks or something that's why it can work minutes at a time. The Xbox one S works fine at 1440p because I believe it up scales the image.

My friend just got the same monitor and has the X so if his doesn't work it will point to the X.
