flat panel monitor model # E171Fpb

I have had this monitor for a while but it hasn't been used for 3 or for years. I am trying to connect it to a Dell Dimension  8110 but the screen is just full of horizontal lines.  Any assistance would be helpful.

If the monitor fails the STFC (Self Test Feature Check), it is defective. If the monitor passes the STFC, the culprit is either the video card driver, cable, or video card.

Thank you Chris.  I conducted the STFC and have the red/green/blue and white striped box floating on the screen as noted in the description.  Now what??

thank you

* Power the PC off
* Open the case cover
* Disconnect the monitor from the video card
* Remove and reseat the video card in the motherboard slot
* Reconnect the monitor to the video card
* Replace the PC cover
* Power the PC on. If the same issue occurs, the AGP slot video card is faulty and will need to be replaced
