Migrating vCenter with VBA
Hi Community,
We actually are running our VMware Backup with EBR 1.0.3.6 and Networker 8.1.3.2 in a vSphere 5.1 environment (windows 2008 R2)
We need to change the vCenter for a new one (other name and IP) mounted in version 5.5 on a Windows 2012 R2
How can we at best migrate our VBA. I think we need to build new one, but in that case, how can we keep the history of backup done in the 5.1 environment? Is it possible to restore a check point from one VBA to another one who run in another vCenter?
Thanks.

Hi
I suggest you to try upgrading your backup env to the last cumulative hotfix of Nw 8.2.1.x.
With Nw 8.2.1 (or higher) ,DDOS 5.5 (or higher) and VBA 1.1.1.50 you will be able to restore backups done by a VBA residing in a different VC (DR scope for example) using a different VBA

Hi Nicolino,
Thanks for answering my question. Will this restore be possible also if the old appliance is switched off?
I m supposing Yes, but... Probably better to ask to many time.

Sure the restore will be possible also if the old appliance is switched off
In a real DR situation your "prod" VBA is died and you need to be able to restore vmdk protected in "prod"
Of course ,as I wrote, you must before upgrade your env to nw8.2.1.x +DDOS5.5.x + VBA1.1.1.50

Hi I don't understand the question ,however :
EMC NetWorker and VMware 8.2 SP1 Integration Guide ,
Recovery from a secondary site
when you clone a VBA backup you will able to use a Vcenter different from the original one
