Sybase incremental failing: No device find for the save: NMDA

Hello Everyone,

I have configured a sybase backup running on a suse machine. The full backup of the DB get successful, but incremental keep failing with following error:

Environment details are:

Networker: - 8.1.3 running on windows server 2008 R2

NMDA: 1.5

Client: Suse Linux 11.4, 64-bit

Sybase version: 16.

I have configured the backup using client wizard. I want to backup transaction logs via incremental and truncate them.

Below are the setting generated in client config in NMC,

Please help, let me know if any other information is needed.

The answer is inside the first screenshot: you want to use a data domain (ddboost) backup device.

Consequently, the client direct option must be set for the client.

  -  If you do not use a DD you must deselect the option

  -  If you use a DD, you must make sure that the storage node & pools setup are o.k. - just as stated in the message.

Hello Bingo,

Client direct is disabled in the client. It should not be issue with datadomain config or device as Full backup working fine, it is only incremental backup for this particular machine fails.

As per first screenshot, error might suggest pool issue (eg, no pool defined available).
