What is the Life age for the media? How to get the Media age?

Hi there,

What is the Life age for the media? How to calcaute it, is it by the writing tims, labeling time , ..etc?

How can I check if the media life is over in order to stop using it?

Many thanks.

Hi,

media life depends on age, written data and mounts.

You can gather these info from media db with mminfo.

Example:

mminfo -q"mounts>499" -r "volume, olabel, mounts"   -> gives you all media with more than 499 mounts

mminfo -a -r "volume, olabel, mounts, written" will give you all media with name, the first labeling, the number of mounts and data written on the tape

For more have a look at manpage.
