Powerconnect 5524P cannot update boot code

I have several 5524Ps and 5548Ps with firmware 4.0.1.11 and boot code 1.0.0.12.  I was able to update via openmanage gui to version 4.1.0.21, but when I try to update bootcode to 1.0.0.14 I get copy failed message "Copy: Illegal software format".

I also tried via xmodem transfer via console and after file copy I get this: "Error 1030000. Wrong image format. Writing aborted."

Help?

Version 4.1.0.22 just came out last month.

Have you tried upgrading to it to this version?

Hi Daniel, thanks for the suggestion.

Just upgraded to 4.1.0.22 and still get same message.

I can just leave boot 1.0.0.12 if it won't cause any issues.  But, we have 54 55xx switches that I'd like to update, but obviously not if there's issue with having latest firmware 4.1.0.22 and boot 1.0.0.12 instead of .14.

I think leaving the boot code would be a gamble. Things may work fine, or you could run into issues down the road. 4.1.0.22 uses the same boot code as 4.1.0.21. What I was suggesting is attempting the boot code update using the rfb file included with 4.1.0.22. Keep us posted on the outcome.

I did try that before updating.  Sorry I didn't clarify that.

BUT, I decided to try it again from original rfb that came with 4.1.0.21 and it worked...

So, not sure why it didn't like it the other 10x I tried it, but it worked this time!  Lol

Thanks again for the help!

I know that this is an old thread, but I've been struggling with same problem today.

I finally managed to upload the boot code file, when i selected "Boot code" from the dropdown menu _before_ selecting the boot code file. I hope that this will help someone in the future.
