SonicWall NSA250M, PowerConnect 5448, SonicPoint-NDR and VLAN Configuration
Hi~
I'm having some troubles with VLAN configurations. I'm fairly new to VLANs and am not a full-time IT professional, but am an Engineer who has inherited the tasks, so I'll try to explain what I am after the best I can. Any help with this configuration would be greatly appreciated. I've been on this for over a week.
Equipment:
Dell SonicWall NSA 250M
Dell PowerConnect 5448
Dell SonicPoint-NDR
Dell SonicPoint-NDR
I am trying to setup:
- a LAN (which already works)
- a guest wifi network on a vlan with internet access only and gets DHCP from the SonicWall
- a corporate wifi network that gets DHCP from the LAN (I don't want this on a separate VLAN as I want the DHCP scope to be the same as other LAN devices)
I have my SonicWall configured as:
X0 LAN 10.0.0.1 255.255.0.0
X0:V10 VAP_GuestWiFi 10.10.0.1 255.255.255.0
X1 WAN
Virtual APs:
Corporate WiFi No VLAN ID (I think it defaults to a VLAN ID of 0, could that be a problem since my PowerConnect seems to default to VLAN ID 1?)
Guest WiFi VLAN ID 10
My PowerConnect ports are configured as (I know the ports are poorly chosen, but I'll fix that later):
Device Port Port VLAN Mode Customer VLAN
SonicPoint #1 3 Access 10:UnTagged
SonicPoint #2 40 Access 10:UnTagged
SonicWall X0 46 Trunk 1:UnTagged
10:Tagged
With this configuration:
- My SonicWall and SonicPoints can communicate and be provisioned
- I cannot get an IP from the Guest WiFi and therefore no internet connectivity
- For some reason, my Corporate WiFi gets a 10.10.0.x IP address, the type of IP address I would expect on my Guest WiFi, and has internet connectivity, but no LAN connectivity as it's on the wrong subnet
I feel like I'm just a setting or two away from that eureka moment, but I can't figure it out. I have changed port types, tagging, VLAN IDs, all without helping. Different configurations do bad things like complete inability to get IP addresses, blocking communication/provisioning between the SonicWall and the SonicPoint and blocking internet traffic from my LAN to my SonicWall. I'm happy to provide other information and screenshots as necessary to get this figured out.
Thanks.
