Another Windows 10 WIFI issue after update
I have a XPS18 and the WiFi driver win10 is using is Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 and should be using Intel Centrino Wireless-N 7260 driver instead. What should i do to get the right one installed. The Intel software is not present anymore.
Thanks

Hello Scott,
Have you gone to the main Dell support page, input your service tag, and had the system redirect you to the support pages for your XPS18? If you click on the Downloads and Drivers section select the WIn10 option from the "Change OS" dropdown. If you then look under networking you should find the correct drivers and Intel software (ProSet) to download.
You can also try going directly to the Intel download page for the N7260. Just make sure you change the OS to Windows 10 and select whether it's the 32-bit or 64-bit version that you are running on your system.
Let me know if downloading, either from our support site or from Intel, doesn't work. And If not, what errors you're getting when trying to install the driver, and I'll see what else I can think of to help.

Todd thanks for the help but still not working. I uninstalled the N2230 driver and tried to install the N7260 driver but it did not work. Said Installation Blocked: " this software package cannot be installed on your system"

Any ideas on how to fix it for the correct driver????? It works like it is just trying to get the correct drivers for the hardware.

I have a similar problem. I am trying to fix the vexing Windows 10 Wifi problem. I subscribed to Dell Technical Updates. One of the recommended updates is:
Driver and description: This package provides Intel 7260 WiFi Driver and is supported on XPS 8700 running the following Windows Operating systems: Windows 10.
Download URL: www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails;fileid=3475171474
Criticality:Recommended
Release date:7/29/2015 3:10:01 AM
However, installation was "blocked" - here are the technical details (not that I understand them... ;-)
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark
Basically what Dell-Todd said above...
If that doesn't work (didn't for me) another way is to go into power management settings > Advanced and change the settings for Network Adapter, so that when on battery it is set to the same profile as when plugged in (max performance). Note I am only talking about upping the Network Adapter profile, so the effect on battery life should be limited.
