Cannot detect wireless networks on Dell XPS L401

I have a Dell XPS L401 with Windows 8 PRO. My laptop is not able to detect any wireless networks even when my Wireless Switch is On. I'm not sure whether it is a hardware problem or software problem. This is the first time such a thing has happened. Plz help me

Did the adapter ever connect?

When you installed the operating system, did you install the Desktop/Notebook system software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Start with the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

 

Places to look to see if your Connection is enabled

 

Did you install a virus program or using the virus program that came with Windows 8?
