Inspiron G15 5511, does not power on
No life from the laptop when the power button is pressed and no matter how long the button is held down for, a hard reset as advised by Dell's guidance to deal with a laptop that does not power up doesn't occur.
The issue on my laptop started just before Xmas having bought it Black Friday week, raised a service ticket which as of yet has not been addressed properly. At first a replacement of parts was advised instead of a full laptop replacement, delivery of parts and arranging a technician to come to my residence and fix was quoted to take a couple of days - quicker than sending the laptop back to Dell and having it replaced. We're near mid-January now and the service action has not taken place. Reason given is parts not available and I'm now being quoted mid-March for the repair.
Anyway, sob story over, something to try out. This isn't a full solution, Dell should see to the warranty action being fixed, but it might get you back up and running. Have you tried leaving the laptop unplugged for the battery to drain. As the battery light is illuminated it has to have some charge in there that's being used. With no charger connected to the laptop, the charge will eventually run out.
Mine took about 3 days to drain down from memory over Xmas with the laptop left to one side and not used (as I say this isn't a proper solution, Dell needs to address...). I plugged the charger in out of curiosity the other day, pressed the power button and the laptop worked! Performed driver updates, did a backup and thought my issues were gone.
However, having left the charger connected to the laptop overnight Friday into Saturday - same issue again. For the record the first time I had the issue it was also a first use of a day, laptop left connected to the mains overnight.
No life from the laptop, battery light illuminated even when I take the charger out, exact same problem. So I left the battery to drain again, count the days to Tuesday, plug the charger back in again, press the button - and we're back!
I'm going to not leave this laptop on charge overnight now until Dell fix the issue - its the only consistent cause and effect I can see at the moment. Will report any more news as and when but there is my consumer advice. If you can wait 3 whole days, perform the world's longest hard reset and you may get a working laptop again. Good luck

Perform a hard reset.
For Dell laptops with removable batteries, see the User Guide for your Dell laptop for step-by-step instructions to safely remove the battery.

Bought mine on March 15th and same issue within a week of having it. Service tech came and replaced motherboard and temporarily fixed the issue. It’s now June 20th, and I am now waiting for a replacement laptop because of the exact same issue. Waiting for the exchange tech to call me so I can request a different laptop because I’ve seen nothing but bad things about this one since I’ve gotten it. They actually stopped selling it from their website. Wonder why lol

Did the battery light turn off before plugging the charger and working or did it stay on? I'm facing the same problem

I had the same problem in July 2022. I sent it by the mail service and fixed. The same thing happen again after 4 days of use. I"ll submit for fix by mail again.
I connected the charger for the over night. I tried the hard reset by (1) disconnecting AC, (2) press power button 17 second, (3) connect AC again (4) press power button, but it didn't work.
I'll try the three day discharging by not connecting the AC.
However even if it works, that's the product problem, and this laptop needs to be replaced.

I have the same problem! bought my G15 on Nov 2021, not turning on in June 2022 so on site tech replaced the motherboard, and now in Nov 2022 its suddenly not turning on again, dell tech said they will replace motherboard again! maybe they will just replace everytime until im done buying their warranty. Too much waste of time and money and hassle for my work!
2 motherboard replacements within a year. My other system from other brand never had a motherboard-scale problem and lasted for 5 years! Too much regret on this one by Dell!

Just came here to state that I have the same issue. Purchased the computer for Black Friday and it doesn't turn on half the time on demand (need to wait hours and just wish for better luck next time). My son has resorted to just leaving the computer on. He restarted it today but it won't turn on after the restart. Awful.

We needed 2 new laptops for work, (software distribution) i was asked to make suggestion, being the fool that i am i have chose to trust Dell and picked this model... 2 out of 2 have the issue where battery needs to be unplugged and bios reset from time to time. Now i see there are many more threads with same issue and Dell does absolutly nothing to fix the situation.

Thank you for the tip. The same issue happened to me after a week's trip; my laptop did not turn on and felt warm in the middle/upper part of the keyboard (above the "PRT SC" & "Home" keys). I disconnected everything (power cable, external HD & scanner), let it rest for 10 minutes, and held the power button for 20 seconds to drain any residual power, and voila it turned on. From now on I will turn it off every day.

I encountered the same issue, i need to remove the battery and wait for the battery drain out. Connect to power supply and then it works again. This seems like a common issue in this model, removing the battery and wait it drains out is not a proper solution to solve this.
