First, power cycle the 2wire. Second, remove the 2wire software. Third, make sure you have a valid IP address. Then try to ping the 2wire (should be your default gateway address from your IP info). If you can ping the 2wire then try to ping a website. If that is successful then your computer is doing what it is supposed to and then you will be probably reinstalling IE.
Post the model number of your 2wire Gateway (4-digit number usually followed by 2 letters. It's at the bottom of your 2wire).
Try to disable the Norton Anti-virus then try to connect. If you're using a 2wire (2700, 2701, 1800, 1701), access the user interface through 192.168.1.254. And 172.16.0.1 for older models and click on "run system setup wizard".
In my experience the 2wire wifi are weak. I also could not connect with the 2wire wifi I have so I went to go get anorher wifi access point. It turns out my laptop can connect just fine.
