I have an IP address conflict....does anyone know how to resolve this?

Now that I use Optimum for my wifi, I keep dropping my wireless connection and found that I have a IP address conflict.  Dell will fix the problem for $182.  Does anyone here know what I need to do for free?

PadreAlex,

On the computer you have the IP Address conflict,

Open notepad

Copy the text between the lines and paste it to notepad

=========================================

ipconfig /all > "%userprofile%\Desktop\ipinfo.txt"
arp -a >> "%userprofile%\Desktop\ipinfo.txt"
notepad "%userprofile%\Desktop\ipinfo.txt"

=========================================

Save this as

ipinfo.cmd

Right click on it, left click, run as administrator.

Post the information back here.

Rock Star....I think this is what you wanted me to paste?    I am doing this for my boss, a priest, and now am leaving the rectory so will sign back on tomorrow....I truly appreciate all your help as I'm not sure what I am doing.  It took me awhile to get this.  Sorry if you thought I forgot you, I had to take care of something else in between.

PadreAlex,

A couple of things to change.

Start, control panel, network and sharing center, click on your connection, click on properties. Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 and click on properties for both. Have your settings match mine.

Start, control panel, device manager, network adapters, right click on Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card, left click properties.

Power Management tab, uncheck the box, allow Windows to turn off this device to save power.

Click on Advanced. Look for Antenna Diversity. Change Antenna Diversity from Auto to Aux

Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

Rock Star Rick,

Thank you...the computer has the same settings as yours for the first steps.

For the second, I have different screens so not sure what to change....

I don't know how to do screen prints to show you.  Can you tell me and I will send them to you?

Thank you for your help.

Rick Rock Star,

Thank you for all your help.  With Holy Week, I was not able to get to Father's computer.  I worked on it this morning for well over an hour and then it blew up so Father has decided not to waste any more time on this...he will just work on it plugged in...not wireless until it dies, which he feels won't be too much longer.  Again, thank you for trying to help.  Father appreciates your time and efforts.
