IO Gear GBU521 USB 4.0 Bluetooth

I have an Inspiron 580 S with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.  I purchsed the USB 4.0  IO Gear adapter to connect to primarily a Bose Wave Length Speaker.   I installed the basic driver from IOGear and the bluetooth didn;t work.  Wouldn't connect to phone, Ipad or Speaker.  Then installed the Update driver from Broadcomm.  Still no luck.  Dongle is lighted and alive.  Icon is in system tray.  I can attempt to pair a device but it doesn't work.  Also, I can't open the settings tab from the icon so I think it is a driver or installation issue.

Any help?

Thanks.

Hi pm12962,

I suggest you to try connecting the IO Gear Bluetooth adapter to a different  USB port and check if it works properly. Please re-install the driver and the application provided by IO Gear if the adapter fails to work with a different USB port.

Please let me know about your findings.

Tried that but the same result.  Is there a chipset or firmware update needed?

Hi pm12962,

Thank you for your reply and for providing an update on the status. You can download and install the latest BIOS from the following link by entering the Service Tag and check if it fixes the issue:
