Inspiron 1525 - 1505 802.11n Wireless Card, Range Issues

I am having range issues with my Inspiron 1525. I have recently moved and have set up my Netgear Rangemax (DG834pn) about 10m from where I need to use my laptop. There is 1 internal wall a window and a double brick wall between the router and the computer however my iPhone has no issues with the wireless signal however my laptop does.

Currently I am less than 1m from the router and am only getting a 4/5 wireless signal

Is there anything anyone can think of to improve my situation. My wireless card seems to only be accepting b and g but not N, is this something that I can change?

My driver version is 4.170.77.3 and seems to be current?? I am running Vista.

Any assistance would be greatfully accepted.
