Network Connection Says it is connected, but it won't connect

We just had satelite installed today, after 2-1/2 years of dial up.  All the computers in the house are online and working fine.  Mine was, but quit as I was switching back and forth from IE to Firefox trying to upgrade adobe flash player.  I have an Inspirion 1300.   My wireless Network Connection says I am connected, but when I try to connect I get an "IE cannot display the webpage".  I have removed the connection, rebooted and reconnected each time it does the same thing.  Any advice?  I have a call into the satelite company, but they are not returning my call.  The last number in the network computer's ip address is one and mine is 3 would that make a difference?
