Network problems on Dimension 2400

Hello,

I have a problem with networking on my Dimension 2400 using the built in adapter. I have a piece of software that communicates to another pc (via tcpip) which is working fine, however the software also talks to itself via tcpip, which is not working.

I have installed the software onto another two pc's, and used the exact data and it works fine so we know it is not the software. No network needs to be plugged in for it to talk to itself, but it must have TCP/IP installed.

Any ideas what could cause this? I have heard rumours that broadcom 440x isnt very good, and I have tried updating the drivers but there is no difference.

Thanks,

Paul.

Paul,

If the operating system is XP and you have Service Pack 2 installed, the problem is described in this Microsoft article, along with a link to the hotfix.
