Wireless internet access

I have Insiron 5100 with Dell TrueMobile 1300 WLAN Mini-PCI card as wireless adapter.

A while back it stopped working so I connected direct to Verizon wireless router.

I plan to go to Europe and will need wireless connection to comunicate with home.

I see from the Wireles Network Connection Status, it sends bet does not receive any packets of info.

I can assign or ask to automatially find IP or Gateway addresses, without any succes.

I can see it looking for it on the Tool Bar.

My suspect is the card, What else could it be?
