M8024 speed only 1G with BRCM 10GbE 2P 57810S-k Mezz

We received some M820 blades recently which have BRCM 10GbE 2P 57810S-k Mezz to M8024 (original not -k version) and they are only getting 1G speed.  The OS is Dell-installed ESXi 5.1 latest update release.  I have upgraded the firmware on the M8024 to 5.1.4.5 which should be the latest firmware.  I have upgraded the BCM57810 firmware to the latest.  If I force the BCM57810 to 10000 Mbps the link goes down and does not come back up.  I have restarted the M8024.  I have tried offline-bundle upgrade of bnx2x drivers in ESXi 5.1.  I made sure that SR-IOV, NPAR, and DCB are disabled on the BCM75810 then powered off, removed, and re-inserted the blade.  No matter what I have done the link speed remains 1G as reported by ESXi and the M8024 in GUI and via telnet CLI.  I have even tried booting the blade off Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit and still only got 1G speed.

What do I need to do to get 10G FD speed working with BCM75810 and M8024?

On the M1000e chassis which midplane does it have installed? You can look on the back of the chassis to determine.

Which slot is the M8024 installed into on the M1000e?

On the M8024 have you tried disabling the port and enabling it again.

Example:

console(config)#interface tengigabitEthernet 1/1/1

console(config-if)shutdown

console(config-if)no shutdown

BCM57810 has KR transceiver, this is incompatible with both 1.0 midplane and M8024 which only support XAUI for 10G therefore it will never work with this hardware combination.  We need a 10G card with XAUI transceiver such as Broadcom M57711 or to replace M8024 with M8024-k which also has a KR transceiver and upgrade the one M1000e we have with 1.0 (the other is already 1.1).  No thanks to our Dell sales rep who assured us this would definitely work at 10G with our existing hardware.

What hardware are you working with, model of servers, NICs, and switches? Is the firmware up to date on everything? What does the configuration look like on the switch? Have you tried manually setting the speed?
