Factory Setting
I have a Latitude D630 that I want to take to the factory settings. Anyone know how it is to be done. I do not have the cd's that came with the laptop. Thanks

BEFORE you begin, BACK UP the C:\dell directory to a flash drive or CD.
You will need the windows CD:
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form?c=us&l=en&s=gen&redirect=1
Boot the Windows CD (F12) and install. Then install, IN ORDER
The Dell notebook system software
The Intel chipset driver
follow up with all the other drivers (touchpad, modem, network, video, audio, etc.).
Finally do all Windows critical updates.

Hi jamaicansister and welcome to DELL forums.
If you are running Windows XP:
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?docid=181316
If you are running Windows Vista:
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?docid=336966
Remember to back up all important data (Mails, files, pictures, favorites) and to update your security programs since this procedure will erase everything and set your laptop as it came out the box when you got it. Good luck.
Hope it helps
