dimesiion 8300
I have a dimension 8300 and it quit working it will start and all but says something about the registry is missing, so I guess the hard drive has a virus and just is done. My question can I install a new hard drive to the computer to fix it and how do I reinstall the windows to this? I think I have the disk but not sure?

Could you please post the exact text of the error message.
Also, check the reading of the power button LED, is it solid green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber, also and the sequence of the Diagnostic Lights on the back of the case.

If you replace the hard drive, you will need the Dell XP Reinstallation disc.
