Hi,
Yes, Lifecycle Controller must be enabled at servers to perform firmware update using OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter (OMIVV).
Life Controller Cycle enable/disable setting is available with ‘System Setup’ at startup, can be accessed using iDRAC. Reference link.
Driver update using OMIVV on ESXi hosts at vSAN clutters is independent of Lifecycle Controller.
Thank You,
Vineeth

Lifecycle Controller is enabled on the server, but I have not set up a physical cable to it. And I can see that Lifecycle Controller needs a IP address and physical nic to work or??
I only have a physical nic for iDRAC... should that bee enough to update firmware/drivers via openManager Integration?

Hi,
Having connectivity with iDRAC is only connectivity requirement for firmware update. Need not configure IP for Lifecycle Controller.
Driver update using OMIVV on ESXi hosts at vSAN clutters is independent of Lifecycle Controller.
Thank You,
