OptiPlex 5040 Thermal Pad for M.2 drive
I tried ordering from Dell, but was told they don’t sell these things, instead told to use Amazon, etc.
But I cannot find a thermal pad like what is shown in the picture:
- Do I need the thermal pad?
- Is it the same as the thermal pads that measure 70x20x1mm or 70x20x1.5mm?
- Is it to protect the controller that sits on the motherboard? What is this controller chip anyway?
- Or is it to protect the SSD?

Hi bradthetechnut, You are right! But I don't know how to delete posts. Can you please give me a link for how to do this? When I tried to modify a post before, I was told that this is considered spam. Please help.

Editing a post is not considered spam unless spam is inserted. What did happen when I was a newbie was too many edits would make a post disappear.
There isn't a way for users to delete a post. Only moderation can do that.
