Optiplex 990 GPU

Im quite new to PCs and ive just got an Optiplex 990 MT PC and I wanted to put an ATI Radeon HD 7870 Ghz edition GPU inside of it but Im unsure if the GPU is too big to fit. If anyone could tell me the exact length of this GPU or the space between the PCI-E and the HDD bay I would appreciate it. I havent bought the Optiplex yet so i dont know

It depends on the specific model and manufacturer of the card. The one I have linked below is 9.5" or 241MM and that might be too long. The GTX 1050 4 GB GDDR5 might be a better fit. And in performance the GTX 1050 is about 42% better performance (per game debate).

Just examples.
