Dell R810

Hello all, I managed to pick up a used R810 used locally for pretty cheap. I am looking to get hard drives for it but running into some confusion. On this spec sheet: https://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pedge/pedge_r810_specsheet_en.pdf it shows "2.5” (10K) SAS 73GB, 146GB, 300GB, 500GB, 600GB"

I would like to put 2tb sas drives in this for VM storage. Is that possible with bios and firmware updates, or am I stuck with a max of 600gb per drive.  The service tag on the server is < Removed by moderator >

Thanks! Aaron

Hi,

I've remoted your service tag, as it's your private info. I have the service tag in my case logs.

I tried checking on the database and R810 can support Dell certified drives up to 1.2TB only, here's the list:

Part Number
Part Description
9W5WV  HDD, 1TB, 512b, NL-SAS, 7.2K RPM, 2.5 inch, 64MB, Seagate, Airwalker, (Enterprise Class)
XKGH0  HDD, 1TB, 512b, SAS, 7.2K RPM, 2.5 inch, 64MB, Seagate, Airwalker
87GNY  HDD, 1.2TB, 512b, SAS6, 10K RPM, 2.5 inch, 64MB, Hitachi, Cobra F
T6TWN  HDD, 1.2TB, 512b, SAS6, 10K RPM, 2.5 inch, 64MB, Hitachi, Cobra E+
