How to split a Raid -1 set on a perc h200 raid controller, T310 server, fedora linux
I'd like to keep an offsite hot spare. Is there any way to split the two sata drive currently mirrored on my h200 raid controller. In the end I'd like to walk away with a disk that I know will be bootable if I ever have to use it?
Thanks
John

We use RAID 1 (Mirror) with a H200 card and splitting the set is just a case of pulling one disk out of the array. If your using SATA disks you can plug that disk into a SATA port (remove the RAID card) an then boot off it. Done it many times.

Matthew,
Thanks a million for your reply!
I would like to try and avoid removing the Raid controller, have you ever encountered that situation?
Best regards

I dont know about the T310, but most boards will boot off the any SATA ports first, but you never know. I suggest trying it, its always good to have done your backup/restore routine at least once !
