Hi,

It is not possible to reconfigure any multi level array, RAID 10,50 or 60. Here are the ones you can reconfigure https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/sln305744/dell-poweredge--how-to-expand-or-extend-a-virtual-disk-?lang=en

Note that the newer PERC H730 (available in Dell's 13th generation servers) does allow expanding a raid 10 with additional drives (source).

I'm not sure it's worth replacing an H720 with an H730 for just this one feature, but it is worth considering if the raid expansion is your only option.

Without this, you would want to back up your data (with software that offers a bare-metal restore feature), then destroy the 4-drive raid 10, create a 6-drive raid 10 and then restore from the backup.

i am facing the same challenge. want to add 2 disks to the existing raid10 configured on h710p with 4 disks. would it be possible to stick these 4 disks into r730 with h730, import foreign config, then add 2 disks and then place all 6 disks back into h710p controller?

Thanks!
