XP is a workstation OS so it isn't supported on the servers. This is the Windows Server 2003 driver. It will be your best bet in getting the OS installed.

Let me know how it goes.

Loaded them onto a floppy disk and tried loading them during setup. Didn't work i'm afraid.

you could try using nlite to integrate the drivers into the XP cd.

Still no luck. We're using a bunch of 3rd party server functions but not any actual Windows Server features so we planned to use a less resource intensive OS. Looks like we'll just have to install Server 2008.

I managed to get Server 2008 installed. But now device manager is showing missing drivers for 2 SCSI controllers and the driver download page for the 2800 has no Server 2008 drivers for this.

Yes, it does. Did you install in RAID mode? or in SCSI mode? Boot to the BIOS Setup F2, Integrated Devices, Embedded RAID ... is it set to RAID Enabled or SCSI Enabled?
If SCSI, what is the VEN and DEV ID's for the SCSI devices (right-click device, Properties, Details tab, change dropdown to Hardware Ids)?

It's in RAID, Channel A RAID, Channel B SCSI.
The only drivers on the download page for Server 2008 R2 or Server 2008 x64 is LSI-LOGIC_MULTI-DEVICE_A00_R227150.exe. When I choose update driver and browse to the extracted contents of this I get "unable to find driver".

You can use the Windows 2003 drivers for the Perc 4e/di : ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/scsi-raid/RAID_DRVR_WIN_R99970.EXE We have used these successfully under Windows 2008 as a workaround.

That ID indicates an Adaptec 39160 card. It's not relevant to your setup, if you don't know what it's for. So, you can simply remove it, or you can use the driver below:
32-bit:
www.adaptec.com/.../u160_w7_ws08r2_x86_drv_b7_5_645_100_exe.htm
64-bit:
www.adaptec.com/.../u160_w7_ws08r2_x64_drv_b7_5_645_100_exe.htm

There must be an additional SCSI controller in there lol. No wonder I had trouble finding the right drivers.

PCI\VEN_9005&DEV_00C0&SUBSYS_F6209005&REV_01
PCI\VEN_9005&DEV_00C0&SUBSYS_F6209005
PCI\VEN_9005&DEV_00C0&CC_010000
PCI\VEN_9005&DEV_00C0&CC_0100
I tried those drivers you recommended Geoff but they wouldn't work either. The installer said the system exceeded the maximum operating system version. Tried using update driver in device manager but it wouldn't take them.

Is it possible to use these drivers for Windows Server 2012 as well or are there new drivers available somewhere?

There will be no Server 2012 for the 28x0 servers. Use the 2008R2 drivers for 2012.
