RAID6

Hi,

I have the following RAID6 config with 8 disks. The server is a PowerEdge R620. The RAID controler is a PERC H710 Mini.RAID6

As a disk is reporting SMART errors, I am planning to get rid of it instead of replacing it. Is it possible to keep a RAID6 in this case ? Des it involve any resyncronisation of the remaining disks once I remove the disk having issues ? Or is it automatic ?

I will surely take a backup of the data before performing any actions. Thanks.

Hi,

The virtual drive can be expanded in size, but it cannot be reduced in size. The data will need to be backed up, the virtual drive deleted and recreated with the remaining drives and then the data restored.
