BCM5720 Firmware upgrade 7.8.16 to 7.10.64 fails

PowerEdge 720

BCM5720 Firmware upgrade 7.8.16 to 7.10.64 fails

The upgrade worked for two of four interfaces.  I have attempted several things but I just can’t get off 7.8.16 on the other two.  Every other firmware upgraded (HDD, Intel NIC, RAID, Lifecycle Controller, BIOS)

90:B1:X:X:X:25 – Success – 7.10.64

90:B1:X:X:X:26 – Success – 7.10.64

90:B1:X:X:X:27 – Failed – 7.8.16

90:B1:X:X:X:28 – Failed – 7.8.16

I am running the upgrade via the Lifecycle Controller remotely.  Is there another solution that will work from remote?  As I said, all other firmware upgrades worked so I don’t get why these two fail.

Hello

You can try reverting the firmware and then running the update again. If you used the 64 bit DUP the first time then try the 32 bit DUP. If it still fails to update the other controller then you will likely need to do a local update through the operating system. I would not attempt an update through the OS remotely.

Thanks

Daniel,

I will give this a shot.  The OS is VMware ESXi so running the upgrade locally from there is not doable as far as I am aware.  In the past its been performed via FTP and the lifecycle controller or with the files dumped onto a CD.  I am attempting on performing this remotely so i want to avoid the CD if possible.

I will try to downgrade and run the 32 bit DUP again (FTP didn't list anything in the 64 bit DUP).

Thanks for the info.
