Hi,

I don't think T330 would be able to support M.2 NVME. Is the M.2 NVME a SAS drive? Do you have a picture of it? How do you do the connections?

Does the server BIOS able to detect it?

Hi,

I don't think T330 supports boot from PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD.

Here maybe you can try, set the BIOS to UEFI. And in the BIOS, set the SATA mode to AHCI. If it's not detected, the server should not be able to support it.

The solution would be to use a dedicated USB flash drive and set as the first boot option, use its grub booting to redirect to nvme drive.
1. Install Linux into this USB flash drive.
2. install os into your nvme SSD(I use Asus hyper PCIe nvme adapter, which should also work for your case )
you can use disk copy software or other tooling to install os in nvme drive.
3. change the default grub entry on the USB drive to nvme
I bought a mini-sized USB drive to attach to PowerEdge server.

The key point is to use USB flash drive's grub configuration to redirect to PCIe-nvme SSD installed OS.

Hi, I'm back again because I want to ask this problem

If I use the ICY DOCK MB705M2P-B (this is a converter from the M.2 Nvme to SAS port used on the dell t330 built-in hdd in front of the case) can it be used to boot the operating system the same as the default hdd? Thank you before i hope you can reply me again

okay, i'll try it. But can you give me a step by step how to install operating system on Dell PowerEdge T330 on SSD? Or if you don't know please give me a normal step to install from beginning.

Hi, thanks for choosing Dell. I'm afraid we can not guarantee anything at the moment. Since it's a converter, "Technically" (big emphasize on technically) it is supposed to work but we can't guarantee if the Dell controller would be able to detect it. Hope this helps.

Hi, thank you for your question again. Your "experiment" here MUST work before you proceed with this. You could get back to us later on if you insist to try. Wish you a good one. ^_^
