Hi Thanadon,
You should be able to install 4X4GB modules. Are all of the DIMMs identical? Same speed, ranking and geometry? Does any mix of the DIMMs work in slots 1 and 2?
The memory requirements start on page 103 of the manual ftp.dell.com/.../poweredge-r300_Owner%27s%20Manual_en-us.pdf

What are the exact specs of the memory you are using? Are they all the same? What "rank" are they? Make sure you are putting them in the right-most slots (starting from outside). What is your BIOS version?

The BIOS is out of date but did not add any memory related updates.
BMC motherboard firmware Version 2.5.0, A00, Released 10/15/12, URGENT, *Note, will cause fans to run fast/loud while updating
Windows: downloads.dell.com/.../R300_ESM_Firmware_V8N40_WN32_2.50_A00.EXE
Bios 1.5.2 update, released 12/8/10, recommended, Windows update package, requires immediate reboot:
ftp.us.dell.com/.../PER300_BIOS_WIN_1.5.2_1.EXE
The E2011 error could be a bad slot, bad memory or mismatched memory.

I bought it from ebay, all DIMM are DDR2-667/PC2-5300P 240-pin MFR P/N M393T5160CZA-CE6 and tested by seller
DMI: Dell Inc. PowerEdge R300/0TY179, BIOS 1.3.0 08/15/2008
What is "E2011 Memory Configuration Error" mean?

So it is not about BIOS version then it might be defected Memory stick or slot.
Any tools to check if bad slot?
Thank you

If it isn’t booting there is not a way to test the slot, but we can test all of the DIMMs two at a time and rule them out. Run this tool on a different system and create a bootable CD or memory stick and boot to that. From there run the MPmemory diagnostics tool to test the memory. ftp.us.dell.com/.../DELL_32-BIT-DIAGNOSTICS_5118-3_R212797.exe

Thank you for fast reply.
Since I have problem with add to slot 3 and 4 but I don't know how to test this slot while left slot 1 and 2 blank.
I also would like to know if bad memory it will only caused the server is not booting or not because I try to put and change stick between slot 3 and 4 it always show error and not booting. I will try to check this out when I have more time
However, I would like to know if I can install memory like this
Slot 1 – 4gb stick
Slot 2 – 4gb stick
Slot 3 – 4gb stick
Slot 4 – 4gb stick
Slot 5 – 1gb stick
Slot 6 – 1gb stick
Slot 1-2 and 3-4 are same speed and rank
Slot 5-6 are same speed and rank
