Memory problem on a Poweredge 840

I am very new to the server envionment so please bear with me.

I "inherited" a pre-configured 840 with 2MB of memory installed and running Windows Server 2003. I want to replace the OS with Windows Home Server since the current WS 2003 config is really overkill for me. The problem I am having is that when I boot from the WHS install CD, the system tells me that I only have 256KB of memory and that WHS requires 512KB?  When I run setup, it shows 2048KB memory (but in BLUE) and it does not let me change it.

Is there some "hidden hardware setting" on the server that is limiting the memory to 256KB?

Any suggestions on how to let the system recognize the 2GB memory it has installed would be appreciated.

Frank

Does Server 2003 recognize all the RAM?  The only "setting" that limits the server to 256MB, is the OS Install Mode setting in the BIOS.  This should be OFF.

That, indeed, was the problem! Thanks.

Now I have to find the drivers for the SCSI hard drives in this box! Wish me luck.:emotion-11:
