PE 1950 serial access

I have a dell 1950 without iDRAC. I am wanting to use a serial connection. I have a DB9 connector with a console cable and I am using putty to try to access. I would like to know if anyone know the port speed. I tried 9600 and 115200 and I get no response. Is there something I am doing wrong or is the serial connection not setup?

Thanks for any help.

StickyLikeGlue,

You should be able to putty through with a port speed of 19200 or 115200. You will first need to enable the serial port via the BIOS(F2). Under serial communications set it to ON. Default is Off.

Let me know how it goes.

I made sure serial is turned on and I still can't connect. I'm going to try to find a different DB9 adapter to make sure it is not just an incompatibility issue.

Thank you for your help.
